Life Mission

"Therefore, come now, and I will send you to Pharoah, so that you may bring My people, the sons of Israel, out of Egypt." But Moses said to God, "Who am I, that I should go to Pharoah, and that I should bring the sons of Israel out of Egypt?" And He said, "Certainly I will be with you, and this shall be the sign to you that it is I who have sent you: when you have brought the people out of Egypt, you shall worship God at this mountain." Exodus 3:10-12

When God called to Moses from the midst of the buring bush, He gave Moses a very specific life mission. God outlined what Moses was to say and do and what the response would be before it happened. The mission was of incredible magnitude. It must have been overwhelming, yet Moses had no doubt that the God of the universe had chosen him for this task. I wonder if God were to outline our life's mission before hand if we would be able to handle it. I think not. I believe if we knew the potential Jesus sees in us and what He wants to accomplish through us, we would pass out. Even now at "mid-life" (o.k. - it's just a guess, but since I'm 50 and my grandmother lived to be 100 - this could be "mid-life:, but maybe not; God alone numbers our days) I never would have thought myself up to the task of some of the things God has already brought me through. I never in a million years would have picked the path that He set out for me. God is so good to be in charge of all of that! I believe God is very gracious in not letting most of us know way ahead of time "our life mission." Not knowing exactly gives me the opportunity to trust Him one day at a time. As He lights one step in front of me with each step I walk I am reminded that His ways are so much above mine. God is the master orchestrator working out His plan through ordinary people and bestowing a life mission that is beyond our wildest dreams.

Penny,

Though you typed this awhile back I am just now reading it.

I totally agree with you.

A lady from another blog had written that her husband had an offer of a job in another state. He had never lived away from his family and she went on to say that her kids were in a good school, they have a good church ect...

I wrote back to her the following:

"Six years ago my family and I had to make a similar decision. After living in the same town for almost 18 years my husband got a new job which moved us to a completely foreign town. We didn't know the area at all, didn't know anybody - - - no friends or family. Even though it was in the same state (California) the culture is completely different up on the Northern Coast compared to the central/northern valley. Weather different, I mean everything possible was different."

"I strongly believe if God brings you to it He will bring you through it."

"Even though your husband has never lived away from his family and your kids will miss their friends and school...if God is at the center of your decision...this is the best possible way for growing in Christ. Through change..."

"Sometimes we get so comfortable that we stop growing the way God wants us to grow and it takes something big for changes to take place. I know that in my personal case this is true. We were living so comfortable; family in the same town or within less than 2 hours away (both sides of our family); friends that we had developed long term relationships with for years; a church that we had been members of for over 8 years; I homeschooled with friends from our church; nice neighborhood; nice weather... Very comfortable! Did I want to move? Had I ever thought about moving? Not really. But when my husband's job was deteriorating and he had the opportunity to get a better job, even if it meant moving, I was willing to go on this adventure because I knew that God had something better for us."

"Was it easy moving? Noooo! I had no idea how hard it would be. I had never been so far away from everyone I knew (family included). But as the years have gone by I have been able to look back and see how God "grew us" through it. I found out things about myself that I would have never known had I stayed in my comfort zone."

"Soo, I know this isn't all about your "comfort zone" and maybe it isn't particularly about trusting God... but I do know for a fact that when you're a child of the King He has a funny way of using just about anything to bring us closer to Him!"

Now...hmmmm wondering if this comment space will let me send this as it is sooo long! LOL

Seeing that you don't have many comments thought I'd make up for it in one comment! LOL

Blessings,

Lucie
